Marshall Slingsby Advanced Composites currently have three on-call firefighters who they release to North Yorkshire Fire Service when required in support of their local community.
During the extreme heats that swarmed parts of the UK this summer, the three firefighters from Marshall were called out up to twice a week in order to support this critical service, as without it, the 24/7 on-call fire station in Kirkbymoorside could have potentially closed.
On-call firefighters are trained firefighters who, rather than being based at a fire station, provide on-call cover from home and/or their place of work. They declare the periods in a week when they are available to respond to emergencies if called upon.
Marshall Advanced Composites Managing Director Carl Morse comments:
“We are very proud of our relationship with the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and, in particular, the work that our three on-call firefighters do in helping to save lives across the region.”
Back in 2021, the company also paid for the local fire engine to be wrapped in a hope that the graphics on the fire-engine will encourage more individuals and businesses to come forward to support what is an absolutely vital service to the local community.
There are great benefits for employers in having staff members who are also on-call firefighters including the training and skills those staff members receive from the fire service on first aid and fire safety.
