Composites UK, the national trade association for the composites industry, announced the winners of its 2023 awards at its annual industry dinner this week.

The event was held on Wednesday, November 1st at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham, taking place alongside the successful Advanced Engineering show at the nearby NEC arena.

Marshall Slingsby Advanced Composites Managing Director Carl Morse was on hand to present the Apprentice of the Year award to Marcus Mullins of Leonardo.

“I’m delighted to present this award to Marcus, who has continually sought out opportunities to expand his knowledge and skillset both inside and outside Leonardo,” said Morse.

“Congratulations also to runner-up Matthew Sellers from the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre team, an incredibly passionate composite technician.

“Thank you to Composites UK for providing this chance to come together and celebrate the achievements within our industry.”

Since its creation in 2012, this annual event has gone from strength to strength, growing from 70 attendees to over 300.

Awards are given for innovation in materials, manufacture, design, health and safety, environmental/sustainability projects as well as personnel awards for employer, employee and trainee/apprentice of the year.
