Filament Winding

Filament Winding

Filament winding is a technique primarily used to manufacture hollow, circular or prismatic parts such as pipes, tubes and tanks. The process uses continuous strands of materials such as carbon fibre, Kevlar or fiberglass to produce these structures.

Filament winding is used in many products such as missile bodies, pressure vessels, canisters and compressed air tanks. As the process is highly adaptable to changing fibre orientations, it is ideal for creating custom lightweight composite structures engineered to target the strength characteristics in many directions.
